Kaup Beach or Kapu as the locals call it is located in Kaup near Udupi district, in Karnataka. Kaup is a small village near Udupi and is located just about 40 km away from Mangalore.
A beach takes your problems and makes them disappear like smoke in the air. This is probably why our generation likes to steal weekends and spend it on a beach where no one can disturb us.
Kaup beach is more popular because of the lighthouse located here. Visitors can go up the light house for a small fee and get panoramic view of the sea. This lighthouse was built over a century ago to warn sailors about the rocky coastline. The viewing gallery of the light house offers some amazing panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and the coast of Udupi. Green palm trees lining the never ending beach line make a perfect picture.Views of the sea will make you feel like you are in a paradise, and the waves rolling at your feet has a therapeutic effect here.
The rocky beach is famous for its lighthouse, three Mariamma temples and a fort built by Tippu Sultan. The lighthouse, which stands 27.12 m above the base, is a major attraction at Kaup beach. It was built in 1901 and has for all these years stood on the rocks guiding thousands of sailors and warning the presence of dangerous rocks.
It offers the people who dare to climb all the way up to a beautiful and breathtaking panoramic view of the sea and also the Manipal skyline on the other side as you can see in the pictures I have attached.
Importantly the beach and the sand on the beach like all beaches from Mangalore to Kundapura is very clean and so is the water.
This lesser known beach is something right out of movies, mainly due to its striking beauty, and is also known as one of the best places to see the Arabian Sea. Perhaps one of the best things to do here to sit back and watch the splendid sunset and as the dwindling light reflects on water, you would know that this is what paradise looks like.
Kaup beach is ideal to go with friends because it feels like the entire beach is yours, the dream of having your own private beach comes almost true. You can do all the fun without too much interference.
