Several other states are also reopening schools this month while following the necessary safety guidelines. It has been decided that the school administrations would also be monitored on how well they are implementing and following the Standard Operating Procedures.
West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee announced that the state schools will be reopening on February 12 for classes 9 to 12. They will be reopening after 10 months of closure since March 16 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The education minister also said that the schools were being sanitised thoroughly so students and teachers are not at risk of contracting the virus. The consent of parents will be mandatory for attending physical classes. Also, physical attendance may not be compulsory for students.
